Baby Shower Cake

This past Saturday was my friend Sara's baby shower. She is expecting her 2nd son in about 11 weeks. His name is going to be Mason Robert. I offered to make the baby shower cake as my gift to her.
I started on the cake on Thursday morning and spent a total of about 14 hours on it over the next 2 days.
I was glad to be able to make the contribution of the cake!
It did not turn out perfect-- I'm still a newbie at the cake making-- but it was cute and it was very tasty, if I may say so myself. The flavors were Chocolate Caramel with Chocolate Buttercream, Chocolate with Chocolate Buttercream and Yellow Butter Cake with Buttercream.
This was the first time I made the Chocolate Buttercream and it was divine. But, it was a totally different consistency than the regular white Buttercream, so I had a heck of a time decorating with it. I will try a few things differently next time. It was well worth it for both the flavor and the color though.

Sara's wish list was the colors, the initials, and the baby blocks, but she said I could do whatever I wanted to do. I tried to incorporate the few things she mentioned.

I knew I wanted to decorate the sides of the blocks with pictures of baby stuff. Here's a onesie and a rocking horse.
The other side was a teddy bear.

Me and Sara. And baby Mason!
Isn't she just the cutest little pregnant mamma? May I mention that she's 11 weeks from delivery and she's only gained 8 lbs. I.hate.her. Not really, but I never ever only gained 8 lbs when I was pregnant. Let's just say it was below 60...

Me and my friend Autumn.
It was so nice to see Autumn and her 2 beautiful children! Sara's husband is actually Autumn's brother. Us 3 girls used to work together at the bank in Eureka.

It was a beautiful day for a drive to Carroll County and I had a great time. Sara, I hope you loved your cake. I can't wait till your sweet baby boy gets here!
