In honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. please watch this video of his famous "I have a dream" speech.
As I watched, I was moved to tears.
As I watched, I was moved to tears.
I was also moved to tears when I read this blog post by Josh Bottomly.
One of my favorite lines in his post was this:
"I also thought about how far we have come, from an age of colonialism, where Africans were our slaves, to this new post colonial age, where Africans are now our sons."
We were all created equal by our God. He doesn't make mistakes.
If you have questions on this issue, I highly recommend reading this book:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Martin Luther King, Jr.
I'm thankful to live in a time and a place that my own family can be multi-cultural and multi-ethnic. I'm not naiive enough to think that racism is completely a thing of the past. I know it continues today. But I will not sit back and point fingers at those from the past or pretend like it didn't happen or isn't happening. I will teach my children about the past and inspire them to look forward to a brighter future. I will teach them to love all of God's children, regardless of their skin color or their circumstances and I will do my best to be an advocate for what is right and be an example for all I come in contact with.

"History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people." Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. " Martin Luther King, Jr.
I pray that my own 4th child, my daughter, a daughter of Africa with a different shade of skin than my own, will live out her days being judged by the content of her character and not the color of her skin. Not only in America as a whole, but in our own community and our own family.
Thank you Dr. King for your heart and your vision of the way things should and could be, and for the sacrifice that you made fighting for it.
"I submit to you that if a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." Martin Luther King, Jr.
May we all be inspired to fight, in the Mighty name of Jesus,
for the injustice that still continues in this world.
