We had an early morning this day. We had to get up early and have breakfast and we left the hotel shortly after 7 to head to the Consulate. We had the girls’ Visa appointments there at 8am.
After the consulate appointments, we headed back to Shamian Island for more shopping. After we got back to our rooms the previous day and started going through our purchases and figuring out what we spent, we realized that we wished we had bought some more things. So, we went back while we still had the chance!
This time, the Daddies took the babies and the Mammas power shopped for 2 hours to get it all done!
Oh my….
That is actually my favorite picture of the whole trip! What good Daddies they are! These 2 goobers have wives and children that adore them!! :)
While we shopped, the guys and babies walked around and took in the sights and took some pictures. It was actually a really, really good bonding time for them with their daughters. The girls had continued to prefer their Mammas (of course they did! We are awesome! Ha! :) That’s what we kept telling their Daddies anyway :) ) We told them to call us if the girls got fussy, but they never did! They actually even took little naps in the carriers and were content.
It’s just gorgeous there. It doesn’t look or feel like you are in China. Very relaxing, quiet and uncrowded. The air even seems cleaner there. Google it for the history.
They came up on a group of people that were playing a form of hackey sack. J had to get in on the action. While he was wearing the baby and a heavy backpack and holding his camera. He actually got a few hits!
Doing a little shopping—it put Baby K right to sleep! :) Daddy was LOVING all the baby snuggles!!
The Mammas and the babies were very glad to see each other after a couple hours apart!! It was a fun little van ride back to the hotel- full of playing and snuggles. **If you are currently having heart palpitations, calm yourself. No, they are not in car seats. Besides a few exceptions, they don’t really do car seats in China :)
Sweet girls! BFFs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet Mamma Kisses. The.Best!
Next, we headed to buy pearls. This was #1 on our shopping list for Guangzhou. You can get beautiful pearls for really great prices here. We wanted to get the girls each a set of pearls to wear on their wedding day. It was a fun and emotional experience! To think—one day, we’d think back on this special day as we look at our beautiful girls on their wedding days. ** Tears**
K and I with Jack. Words can’t express how much we loved him. We still miss him and wish we could go back and hang out with him just for fun! Hopefully one day we will be able to!! We are certainly planning on it! He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We got to look at TONS of strands of pearls and pick out exactly which ones we wanted. After much deliberation, we chose a higher quality pearl (8-9 on a scale of 10) in a larger size instead of the smaller pearls. We thought they looked more appropriate for weddings… we know that we will never regret it.
Watching the girls hand tie our pearls.
After we purchased our pearls, Jack took us to one of his favorite restaurants for a traditional Cantonese meal. It was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious and they brought it out one course at a time. Also, the food was amazingly inexpensive for what we got. We were amazed!
On the streets of Guangzhou as we walked back to our hotel
What a very long, but fun and memorable day!
Only 1 more day in China before we start the long trip home!

Hi, my name is Natalie & I just wanted you to know that I'm really enjoying following your adoption story. I was sent a link to your blog from my sister's friend when we began the adoption process. We are also using Gladney for adoption from China. We are waiting for our last document from the NY Chinese Consulate and then we will be DTC! We are so excited at the prospect of putting a name & face to God's plan for our family. Anyway thanks for sharing your experience in China - it's really helpful to those of us still waiting :)
God Bless,
Natalie
