On the way to Memphis

Last weekend, we took a 4 day weekend and went on a little family trip to Memphis. We have never been before and I've been wanting to go for a while. It's not too far away, but far enough to feel like you've been on vacation and there's so many neat things to see and do there.

We really just needed to get away from work for a few days and relax. We took the camper and stayed at a campground south of Memphis in Miss. When you can take a family of 5 and enjoy all the amenities for $45 a night... it's totally worth the trouble to take the camper!

Brotherly Love... we finally discovered that it was much better to put Sissy in the middle so they wouldn't be tempted to work out their aggression on one another every 5 minutes.
Boys, boys, boys... they're just an entirely different breed and I don't understand them. But I sure do LOVE them anyway!

Be-bopping down I-40. And we had a tire blowout. First time that's ever happened while I was riding in a vehicle. Scared the daylights out of me. Thank goodness I'm married to Superman. He guided us right off the road safely. (It's kind of dark, but it's the tire on the left. The tread just completely shredded off.)

Trying to change the tire. Bad time to discover that we didn't have the right size tools. Jason had a larger tool set that would've had the right thing, but he took it out just hours earlier before we left the house to make more room for the kids in the back of the truck...thinking there was no way we'd need it... lesson learned! We sat beside the road for over an hour trying to find a roadside assistance person to come help us and get the tire changed. Notice how the camper got messed up when the tire blew. It's all dented and bent up, and it took out the insullation under the trailer.

Finally, on the road again!

Apparently we are a family that likes our gadgets...

Rhett had a laptop, watching a movie.

Braden was playing Guitar Hero on his DS.

Gracie was watching a movie on my Zune.
Poor Daddy doesn't get a break from the driving when we're pulling the camper. (Because I'm a big chicken and have no experience pulling trailers, nor do I want to gain any experience...) He is such a good sport about it though. He never says a word. I love him so!

We arrived at the campsite shortly after midnight and got in bed at 2am. Short night!
